Brooklyn: Top 5 Rooftops
As the summer comes to an end, its 'see ya next year’ to one of my favourite summer spots, Brooklyn’s rooftops. Winter in the Big Apple is a very chilly affair but as the spring sun creeps over, the roofs come alive and the views across to Manhattan really are something else. There are so many to explore, here are just a few of my favourites until I grow my list even longer.
A new kid on the Brooklyn block, 1 Rooftop at the new 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge swept in and took the outstanding view crown this year. Looking straight over the Brooklyn Bridge to Lower Manhattan, with the sun setting behind, this is the perfect spot for a sundowner.
Urban Outfitters US is already in its own UO league, and then they bring us Space 98, the perfect mixture of UO and Hipster Cool. A space where arts, shopping, dining and events all come together under one roof. The teepee’s on the roof make for a great BK afternoon accompanied by Brooklyn beers, putting you in a great mood ready to buy one of everything on your way out.
The Roof at Output hosts regular day parties throughout the summer making it one of the hottest spots in Brooklyn. 'Sundays on the Roof’ are a great finisher to any summer weekend with an orange-pink Manhattan skyline providing the perfect backdrop and a soundtrack to match for your stunning summer Sunday.
Over in Greenpoint, Norther Territory has a huge outdoor area which looks over to the Manhattan skyline. An extensive cocktail list and oozing that classic Brooklyn-hipster-cool all over, this is one of the best drinking spots Brooklyn has with a more casual, chilled-out vibe.
In the heart of the uber-trendy Williamsburg, stepping out of the lift, you immediately see the breathtaking skyline through the large window behind the bar. One of Williamsburg’s premier spots for cocktails, this place attracts beautiful hipsters by the bucketload and ticks every ‘super cool’ box going.
So my summer countdown is now on, ready to be wowed by more BK rooftops.
